Past Events & Activities ChildSafe has so many people to thank! Every year our enthusiastic volunteers and board members conduct a wide variety of events and activities that contribute to supporting us with money, services, or help with our programs. We don't want to just forget them when they're past, so this page records some of the important events and activities from recent years. We're still grateful for everybody's help. ChildSafe's 2nd Annual ArtThrives! Brought to You By Realities for Children was held on Friday, July 29th. This extremely successful event was very well attended and featured 12 live auction items and over 90 silent auction items. Live auction artists were: Lorri Acott, John Atencio, Bob Coonts, Kathi Dougherty, Paul Febvre, Janis Goldblatt, Gwen Hatchette, Gary Hixon, Mark Hopkins, Christy Martell, Ellie Weakley and Carl Wilmsen. The featured guest was Liz Johnson who spoke eloquently about her journey from being a victim of child sexual abuse from ages 3-8 to being thriver at age 21. Her story was deeply moving and provided the audience with a glimpse into what it's like to experience child sexual abuse, endure its detrimental effects, yet with the help of an amazing therapist at ChildSafe, go on to become health, happy and thriving. Liz is a CSU student and an artist whose works were featured in the silent auction. Live music for the event was provided by Dave Hill. The emcee was the ever-humorous Vince Lubenow. Auctioneer Jeff Sweeney kept things interesting including a paddle raiser that raised $6,500.00. Stay tuned for details about next year's ArtThrives! to be held in July, 2012. Third annual quilt raffle: This year's winner of the quilt raffle is Elaine Burritt. She's an employee of the Fort Collins Public Library and was thrilled to be the winner. Photos attached (taken at the library). Elaine's name was chosen 8/21/2011 at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival at the Ranch. Her name was picked out of over 4,000 tickets. ![]()
ChildSafe's second annual Trivia Bowl was held Saturday, February 19, 2011, at C.B. & Potts: Participants had fun while helping raise funds for ChildSafe. Teams of two to four members competed for great prizes. Event emcee Michael Stone of Tri-102.5 Radio did his usual masterful job! The event was so successful that attendees have asked for another Trivia Bowl next year. 2010 Make-A-Difference-Day volunteers: On October 22, 2010, a crew of community volunteers spent Make-A-Difference Day helping to upgrade ChildSafe's facilities. Among the things they did for us: Installation of light fixtures (done by electrical engineers!), installation of cabinet door handles, painting (done by a professional painter!), cleaning windows inside and out, sanitizing the children's waiting room, organizing the kitchen, and hanging pictures and coat racks. Again this year, Make-A-Difference Day really made a difference! Thanks to everyone who helped!! September 20, 2010. "TEES fore TWO" Golf Tournament at the Fort Collins Country Club, an event put on by the ROMEO Golf Club to benefit FREE (Front Range Exceptional Equestrians) and ChildSafe. 155 attendees enjoyed a beautiful day of golf, food, and prizes, and the end result was a very nice check for ChildSafe (click here for a snapshot of ChildSafe representatives receiving it). Thanks to the remarkable ROMEO Golf Club and the major sponsors: Northern Colorado Channel 5 Cable TV, Realtec Commercial Real Estate, Advanced Energy, and Woodward Governor. August 28, 2010. The SoPro Music Fest presented by the Rio and El Monte restaurants was a great opportunity for fun games, great music and food. Proceeds from the games went to ChildSafe, and in addition, event attendees were very generous in their donations to ChildSafe. Thanks to The Rio/El Monte staff for their generosity and community spirit. August 25, 2010. Golf Shop Fort Collins hosted a fashion show benefiting ChildSafe.
