ChildSafe Treatment Statistics
We're often asked if child sexual abuse is a big problem in the community, and how many victims we see.
ChildSafe began in 1986 with 10 clients in treatment, and that number has steadily grown. Our highest case load (668 clients) was in 2007, when we were operating three therapy programs. In mid-2009 we discontinued the PHASE program, which offered treatment for juvenile sexual offenders, so we could devote all our resources to treatment for victims.
In 2009 we treated a total of 412 clients. Here's the breakdown:
