Getting started begins with a phone call

You’ll find that ChildSafe is small and friendly, like a family. Don’t hesitate to call (970) 472-4133.

When you call, our clinical director or another lead therapist will get back to you within 24 to 48 hours and schedule an initial appointment (an intake session) to discuss your case and the concerns you have.

At this initial meeting, the therapist will talk to you about your options and what ChildSafe can offer for your situation. If you decide you want to start treatment, you’ll be asked to fill out paperwork (see client forms below) and will be given a copy of our disclosure statement including your privacy rights. Payment options will be discussed, including the Victim Compensation program and ChildSafe’s fees (we offer a sliding scale based on income). If you have private health insurance our billing specialist will call to check on your benefits. You’ll be asked to sign a Release of Information so that ChildSafe can coordinate your services with other professionals involved in your case.

Once you start, a regular therapist will be assigned to your case (or sometimes more than one therapist, especially if multiple family members are involved). They’ll call you to set up scheduling that works for all concerned. ChildSafe therapists work as a team, and meet weekly to discuss cases and coordinate treatment.

Please fill out and sign the necessary forms below before your first appointment with ChildSafe. If you have any questions about the process or on filling out the forms, please call the office at 970-472-4133 during regular hours.

ChildSafe treats all people with dignity and respect, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, country of origin, or belief system. We, a growing collective of nonprofits in the community, are committed to making Fort Collins a great place to live for everyone. We will continue to advocate for, and provide quality services to all who need them.

We accept Victim Compensation, health insurance, and private pay. A sliding scale based on income is available. ChildSafe is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and doesn’t turn families away because they lack financial resources.

If you have any questions or need help with the client forms please call (970) 472-4133.

You are responsible for obtaining any required referrals or pre-authorizations BEFORE your first appointment at ChildSafe. This can be done by calling the phone number listed on the back of your insurance card. While ChildSafe is understanding and non-judgmental about varying financial situations, please know that you are responsible for all deductibles, co-pays, or co-insurance outlined in your insurance plan. If you are unsure about what your deductible or patient portion will be when you come to ChildSafe, your benefits and eligibility can be obtained by calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card. Clients are encouraged to speak with our billing coordinator about any payment concerns or to setup a payment plan.

Currently we work with: Anthem, Aetna, United, UMR, ComPsych, Humana, MultiPlan, and PSD Employee Assistance Services.

ChildSafe is able to accept payment from the Victims of Crime Compensation Fund. Victims Compensation is a payer of last resort, and any insurance must be billed before Victims Compensation will make payment on a claim. Victims Compensation typically awards 20-40 therapy sessions to primary and secondary victims of a crime. If you are unsure if you are eligible for these funds, please contact the Crime Victim Compensation office in the county where the crime occurred.

ChildSafe offers a sliding fee scale to offset the cost of therapy when other sources cannot be utilized. Our sliding scale is based off of income and household size, and can reduce the cost of treatment by up to 90%!
